We are passionate about business books here at ActionCOACH Cheltenham.

In fact, our Managing Director and Senior Coach, Billy Smith loves them so much, he tries to read one a week!

Our Favourite Business Books

Here, we share our favourite business books with you.

Billy Smith, Senior Coach and Managing Director

Business Books

Billy is a prolific reader of business books. From well-known thought leaders, inspiring founders and books to promote mindset, strategies and planning.

With so many to choose from, here Billy selects the 3 books he’d recommend.

World Book Day

Firstly, Billy has chosen Stephen R. Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. It is one of the most popular business books in the world, having sold a staggering 25 million copies worldwide. First published in 1989, Covey is an advocate of being effective by achieving goals; driven by a character ethic which he calls “true north” principles. The book offers his advice through a series of habits.

Billy says of this book: “This is my favourite business book because it’s a great guide to building better habits. By introducing these habits, you should see a massive impact on your business and life. Every time I read it (and I have read it 4 times now) I always find new insights that I have missed on previous reads. In a nutshell, I believe the lessons in the book are timeless!”

Billy’s next choice is Jim Rohn’s “7 Strategies For Wealth & Happiness”.

As a Business Growth Specialist, Billy fully endorses Rohn’s guide to improving your wealth through self-discipline, action and a positive mindset about work, money and the people around you

“The E Myth” by Michael E. Gerber is Billy’s third choice.

Billy often recommends this book to clients as it endorses what we advise here at ActionCOACH Cheltenham.

That it doesn’t matter what business you are creating, you need to focus on the business and not get lost in the business.

In other words, don’t just create a job for yourself and get stuck doing small tasks. Instead, aspire to create a business with lasting success. Real-life case studies help make this book an empowering and inspiring read.

Neil Martin, our Senior Business Coach says this of his favourite business book, “Influence, The Psychology of Persuasion” by Robert Ciadini

As much as I love this book, I’m sometimes hesitant to recommend it. Why? Well, let’s say that when I share the six principles it contains, I also ask people to promise that they won’t use it for evil.

If you’ve ever wanted to be better at persuasion, sales or getting people to do things, then you need to read ‘Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion’. Dr. Robert Cialdini has spent decades researching the science of persuasion. Through his research, Cialdini discovered the six universal principles of influence, which he believed were crucial for understanding why people say “yes” to requests. Reading this book will help you understand these six principles and how to use them to improve the way you interact with and influence others.

The book is easy to read and offers practical applications for marketers, salespeople, and leaders to influence and persuade others ethically. Notice I say ethically. If you aren’t going to use it for good, please DO NOT read it“.

Anne Wall our Head of Marketing has chosen “The Jelly Effect – How to Make Your Communication Stick” by Andy Bounds.

Business Books

I’ve chosen this book because I had seen Andy “in action” prior to reading his book; so I know how effective and powerful his advice and knowledge can be. This is a real “how to” business book with simple strategies and techniques for making any area of your marketing communication work for you. It’s my “go to” book when I start planning any event or workshop“.
