We hosted a workshop recently based on your team, retention and reward.
Run by our client Jane Baalam, Director of Reward Risk Management, clients joined us at the ActionCOACH Cheltenham offices for an invaluable session on how to recruit and retain the best people for your organisation.
Jane explains: “There is a horrible truth around employment that few people are aware of – that most organisations pay more attention to their utilities bill than they do their salary bill”.
This ActionCOACH workshop decided to address this with Jane’s specialist knowledge and 20 years’ experience of being an HR professional and an MCIPD qualified pay and reward specialist.
Why is retention and reward so important?
Because it can cost you if you get it wrong.
Conservative estimates suggest that it can cost around 50% of the salary in lost time and profitability if you get it wrong for a manager-level role. Then there’s the time and cost impact to recruit the next person; in a market where unemployment is almost equal with the level of vacancies in the economy. It has never been more difficult.
Jane’s workshop for our clients helped them to understand what’s important when setting your salaries and how to tell if your rates are Glassdoor or Glass Ceiling.
She shared her knowledge and insights into:

- When you might need to consider developing a pay structure
- Your legal obligations around pay
